Guillermo del Toro Teases His Return to TV's Longest Running Live-Action Sitcom
Guillermo del Toro has teased a return to It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, posting a behind-the-scenes image of himself as Pappy McPoyle. The disheveled character, who hasn’t appeared since Season 11, suggests a McPoyle-heavy episode in the series’ upcoming eighteenth season.
Filming for Season 18 has been underway for a few weeks, and Rob McElhenney, Kaitlin Olson, Charlie Day and Glenn Howerton have shared updates on social media. The new photo puts del Toro back in front of the camera and into the show’s chaotic world.
Del Toro remains busy elsewhere: Frankenstein has earned him a sixth Academy Award nomination and nine total nominations, and he has won Oscars three times, most recently for 2017’s The Shape of Water. He is also working on Netflix’s animated adaptation The Buried Giant and reuniting with Oscar Isaac on a new thriller titled Fury.
