Anders Limpar says Viktor Gyokeres must sharpen his technical game. Despite a high work rate since joining from Sporting CP for £55m last summer, the Sweden international has faced scrutiny over his hold-up play and goal return in Mikel Arteta’s system. Gyokeres has made 39 appearances in all competitions this season and scored 15 goals, including 10 in the Premier League, leaving him behind Liverpool's Hugo Ekitike (11), Chelsea's Joao Pedro (14), Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo (15), Brentford striker Igor Thiago (18) and Erling Haaland (22).

Limpar rated him "six out of 10" for the campaign, praising his relentless running but highlighting inconsistent displays and substitutions around the 67th minute as a concern: "He has been absolutely tremendous in some days...but between those games, it’s not been so good." Warning that "the ball bounces off him too much sometimes," Limpar urged Gyokeres to study the technical play of Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, improve receiving and retention, and get more involved in build-up.
