A hacker carried out a hardware-wallet social-engineering attack that resulted in the theft of more than $282 million in bitcoin (BTC) and litecoin (LTC).

The incident has been described as a sophisticated social-engineering attack targeting users’ hardware wallets. The stolen funds totaled in excess of $282 million across BTC and LTC.

The funds were rapidly laundered through Monero, according to the report.
