Brisbane-based Halfbrick Studios, the Australian developer behind Fruit Ninja and Jetpack Joyride, has announced layoffs.

The studio confirmed on LinkedIn last week that it was making changes to its team structure, including role redundancies in Australia and the conclusion of a number of engagements internationally.

Halfbrick said the decision was not made lightly and that, like many studios, it is navigating a challenging period for the games industry. The company added the changes were driven by organizational and strategic priorities, not individual performance.

The announcement comes months after the release of the studio’s most recent game, Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen.
