Hamster's Console Archives brings classic console games to Switch 2
Gamesradar reported that Nintendo Direct revealed Hamster's new Console Archives line, expanding the company’s Arcade Archives emulated re-releases to include console games and keeping the Virtual Console dream alive on Switch 2. The first two Console Archives titles are available today: 1996 extreme sports game Cool Boarders and 1990 action platformer Ninja Gaiden 2.
The respective store pages refer only to "a 32-bit home console" and "an 8-bit home console," but these are the PS1 and NES versions, and Hamster’s Arcade Archives already covers hundreds of arcade titles from household names to more obscure, historically significant gems.
Console Archives is presented as a potential successor to the Wii Virtual Console, offering individually purchasable classics rather than subscription-only access; the Nintendo Switch Online Classics library has been the primary modern route for older games, and Ninja Gaiden 2 joined that library in November.
