Handmancers delays Early Access to avoid Slay the Spire 2 launch

With Slay the Spire 2 heading into Steam Early Access, the roguelike deckbuilder Handmancers has pushed back its own launch to avoid being "instantly buried under a legendary sequel". Handmancers had been due to begin Early Access on March 9 — just four days after Slay the Spire 2 — but the developer delayed the release to steer clear of Mega Crit's expectedly huge launch.

"And let's be honest - you'll be playing it, we'll be playing it, everyone will be playing it," the team said. "We're huge fans and insanely excited. But launching a deckbuilder the same week as Slay the Spire 2? Yeah... we'd get absolutely crushed. Buying two deckbuilders in the same week?

In this economy? Not happening." No new date is locked in yet; the studio plans to announce one during Turn-Based Fest next month.
