Harry Kane scored twice as Bayern Munich beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 in a dramatic Der Klassiker, taking his tally for the season to 45 goals in all competitions. Nico Schlotterbeck opened the scoring before Kane levelled in the 54th minute, converting from a Serge Gnabry cross.

Fifteen minutes later a foul on Josip Stanisic led to a penalty that Kane converted to put Bayern 2-1 up and reach his 45th goal of the campaign. Those strikes took Kane past several landmarks: he is the first Englishman to reach 45 goals in a season since Dixie Dean’s 46 in 1931/32, and by notching a fourth straight league double became only the third player in Bundesliga history to do so, joining Lothar Emmerich and Tomislav Maric.

Kane also bettered his personal record by reaching 45 in nine fewer appearances than in 2023/24.
