HBO's Lanterns trailer confirms August 2026 release
The first full trailer for Lanterns surfaced early after a leak, offering the first footage of Aaron Pierre as John Stewart and Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan. Warner Bros. released the preview one day early on Mar. 3.
The trailer opens with Stewart and Jordan driving down a mountain road; Stewart says he has trained with Jordan for about two months but has not worn the ring. Jordan then puts the Green Lantern ring on the dashboard and jumps out of the car, throwing Stewart into a survival test.
They arrive in a small Nebraska town where the sheriff warns them to stay out of her way. The footage teases a tense rivalry—Jordan refuses to give up his place in the Green Lantern Corps—and includes shootouts, explosions, a battered light-brown suit, and brief glimpses of Jordan using the ring, with no scenes of Stewart using powers.
The series adopts a gritty, Western-style tone that echoes creator Taylor Sheridan's work and unfolds across an eight-episode slate. Lanterns will debut on Max in August 2026.
