Helldivers 2 charity challenge leads to death threats

Sony Interactive Entertainment and Arrowhead Game Studios posted on the Helldivers Discord after the user credited with creating the D10 Dev Challenge said they had been doxxed at work and targeted with death threats. The challenge offered developers the chance to earn a donation to a chosen charity by completing a difficult in-game task.

The statement said the companies were “tracking the situation currently unfolding surrounding the Dev D10 challenge” and aimed to address growing “hostility in the community.” “We do not tolerate threats of violence, harassment, or doxxing toward anyone: players, creators, developers, moderators, or our teams in any community spaces,” the message read.
