Henry Cavill's Hellraiser: Hellworld Now Free on Pluto TV
Henry Cavill’s early horror outing, Hellraiser: Hellworld, is now streaming free on Pluto TV. The eighth entry in the franchise was released straight-to-DVD in 2005 and directed by Rick Bota. Cavill plays Mike, a regular in an MMORPG aptly titled Hellword, who attends a rave staged by Lance Henriksen’s character known only as The Host; Pinhead eventually appears to wreak his usual havoc.
The film was a low point for the series, trading on early-2000s online gaming culture and marking Doug Bradley’s second-to-last turn as the iconic villain. Critics were harsh—the movie holds a 13% critics’ rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a 22% audience score—but Cavill’s performance, even in one of his first feature roles, was widely noted as a standout.
One of Hellraiser: Hellworld’s most unusual choices is its twist: much of the supernatural action shown early on isn’t real.
