Hermès reportedly refused to sell North West a rare Kelly bag

Amy Odell wrote in her "Back Row" newsletter that Kim Kardashian and Kanye West attempted to buy a coveted Hermès Kelly bag for their daughter North West but were rebuffed.

A former Beverly Hills boutique employee told Odell that Hermès does not always oblige high-profile shoppers and that such requests often go through corporate and the press office. The employee said the family sought a Black or alligator Mini Kelly and that Hermès declined to sell North an alligator Mini Kelly.

Alligator Mini Kellys are among Hermès’ rarer pieces and can fetch over $75,000 on the resale market. Kim Kardashian’s collection includes multiple Mini Kellys, a Jean Paul Gaultier–designed Shoulder Birkin and a Himalaya Birkin, which can reach about half a million dollars on resale. North has also been seen carrying a white Birkin and, in 2014, painted an Hermès Herbag as a gift for her mother.

Hermès’ press team did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
