Emile Heskey says Harry Kane is "in the discussion" for the Ballon d'Or but may need a Champions League triumph with Bayern Munich and a standout World Cup for England to clinch the award. Since leaving Tottenham in 2023 as their all-time leading goalscorer, Kane has struck 132 times in 135 appearances for Bayern.

A memorable solo goal came in their Champions League last-16 win over Atalanta, and the 32-year-old is eyeing another Bundesliga title and a third Golden Boot while preparing to captain England at the 2026 World Cup. Heskey put it plainly: "He's up there isn't he, he's definitely in the discussion - especially when it comes to what he's actually done, all the goals, the goal records that he's breaking and he's definitely up there." He added that the move to Germany has mattered: "The interesting thing is we're talking about Harry Kane being Ballon d'Or, would it have been the same if he'd have stayed in England?
