Jon Peddie Research says gaming PC sales are "surging", but most of the action is concentrated at the high end. The firm notes that while game software sales drift through a lukewarm cycle, spending on gaming PCs—both system-integrated rigs and DIY builds—along with upgrades and peripherals, continues to surge.

JPR estimates the Arm-based gaming PC market will grow from just over $400 million in 2024 to around $1,500 million in 2028. Set against recent estimates that place the overall gaming PC hardware market between $40 billion and $60 billion, that $1.5 billion would represent only a few percentage points of the total.

There are numerous PC laptops currently available offering Qualcomm's Snapdragon X chips, but it is a stretch to describe any of them as "gaming" laptops.
