Collider reports that Season 2, Episode 9 of High Potential centers on a murder that ties to the FBI and rattles Morgan as the Major Crimes team investigates.

The episode opens with a staged hit gone wrong: a car plunges off a cliff, initially taken as an accident until detectives learn the hitman’s brakes were cut. The supposed hitman is revealed to be undercover FBI agent Curtis Bellinger, who was working to fake the death of inventor Douglas Newmeyer — the man behind a faulty vacuum linked to fires. Wagner joins the investigation, which is being led by his former colleague Mira Taylor and her boss Wayne Vincent. Major Crimes uncovers that much of the case was staged by someone with insider knowledge; the team ultimately reveals that Vincent accepted bribes from Newmeyer to bury the vacuum inquiry and, when Bellinger discovered the payments, Vincent killed him.

Arthur remains missing after disappearing from his truck, and the squad cannot act in the first 24 hours because nothing suspicious was found at the scene. The episode also digs into Morgan’s insecurities after Newmeyer taunts her — telling her he had "seen your type before" — and ends with Karadec reassuring her about what she’s accomplished. The plot advances the Roman storyline and teases Morgan’s father later this season, while High Potential continues to air Tuesdays at 9:00 P.M. EST on ABC.
