Highguard account returns, schedules January 26 launch showcase
Kotaku reports that Highguard’s official Twitter account posted on January 23 to announce a 'Launch Showcase' livestream scheduled for the game's release date, January 26.
The post — the account's first activity since replying to a December 12 message — set the showcase for 10am PT and promised 'a full gameplay deep dive, year one plans, and much more.' Highguard was first revealed as the 'last big thing' at The Game Awards in December; the free-to-play online shooter drew scrutiny because the initial trailer, many said, resembled existing games and did little to explain what it is, and the studio's subsequent radio silence amplified online discussion.
Replies to the January 23 tweet were mixed, including 'Bro finally remembered the password' from Fortnite leaker Shiina and other comments such as 'I logged in specifically just to mute you,' 'Oh my word, they are alive,' and 'Dead game.' Some responses were positive, and the account clearly drew attention. The launch-day stream begins at 10am PT on January 26, and the game launches on PC the same day.
