Highguard Episode 2 adds much-needed fixes but leaves room for improvement
Highguard’s second major update fine-tunes moment-to-moment gameplay and adds a new Warden, building on the first update that made 5v5 permanent. The changes address several of the raid shooter’s pain points while leaving room for further improvement. The new Warden, Ekon, brings a passive called Dread that outlines wounded enemies in red with each heartbeat, giving players a clearer sense of damage against high-armor foes.
His Ultimate applies Dread across the map, revealing enemy locations, which can feel powerful given the small team sizes. Ekon is also different in mobility: he transforms into a wolf rather than summoning a mount, so you can’t fire from horseback and the chase utility is less versatile.
Episode 2 shortens the opening base-fortifying phase so matches get into looting and combat faster, and weapon chests can now contain “masterwork” weapons that sit between existing tiers.
