Hims & Hers Withdraws Knockoff Weight-Loss Pill After Regulatory Scrutiny

Hims & Hers said it would stop selling a cheaper knockoff of Novo Nordisk’s new pill version of Wegovy after federal regulators signaled the product might be illegal. The company introduced the offering on Thursday and, the following day, announced the cancellation was made after “constructive conversations with stakeholders across the industry.” The top lawyer at the Department of Health and Human Services, Mike Stuart, said his office had referred Hims to the Justice Department for potential violations of a federal law governing medication sales.

Novo’s pill has driven strong consumer demand: about 170,000 people have purchased it since early January, paying $149 for the first month and $199 for each month after. Hims had undercut that price, advertising $49 for the first month and $99 for subsequent months just hours before President Trump unveiled a new government drug-pricing website, TrumpRx.
