His & Hers creator leaves Season 2 decision to Netflix after streaming hit
Collider reports that William Oldroyd, creator and executive producer of Netflix's new mystery thriller His & Hers, declined to confirm a second season after the six-episode series premiered about a week ago and quickly topped streaming charts worldwide, even overtaking Stranger Things.
Oldroyd said only, "You have to ask Netflix," when asked whether the miniseries would continue, noting it "was conceived as a limited series" and that the production "didn't think beyond that." He added that they "created some great characters," praised the twist and the audience reaction. The story follows estranged couple Anna (Tessa Thompson) and detective Jack (Jon Bernthal) as they investigate a murder in Anna's hometown; the season ends with additional killings and the revelation that Anna's mother, Alice (Crystal Fox), targeted her daughter's former classmates after learning about their roles in Anna's assault, a course of action only Anna knows about.
Oldroyd suggested a potential second chapter could either pick up directly from the finale or "move on," asking whether the story should show "what she does with that information" or start later with her "sitting with it" and its effects on her relationship with her mother. He said decisions about a return rest with Netflix and did not offer a firm renewal update.
