'Hokum' Trailer Reveals New Adam Scott Horror From 'Oddity' Director
Adam Scott moves into pure horror in the first trailer for Hokum, playing novelist Ohm Bauman. NEON released the clip and a short synopsis that casts the film in a Stephen King–like vein as Bauman retreats to a remote inn to scatter his parents’ ashes. The studio’s synopsis describes tales of a witch haunting the honeymoon suite, with disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance forcing Ohm to confront dark corners of his past.
The inn is populated by an eclectic array of guests and staff, and the cast includes David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh, Austin Amelio, Peter Coonan, Michael Patric, and Will O’Connell. Hokum was written and directed by Damian Mc Carthy, whose 2024 film Oddity drew attention for its distinct visuals and tension and holds a 96% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Mc Carthy’s 2020 feature Caveat, about a drifter hired to watch over a young girl while chained up, also earned strong reviews and an 81% critics score.
