The Boys, a dark comedy satire of politics, social media, and comic book superheroes, enters its final season. Homelander is trying to get the original V-compound prototype to become immortal. A two-minute trailer ahead of the May 20 premiere on Amazon Prime shows Homelander teaming up with his dad, Soldier Boy, who eventually confronts Butcher as the nation is plunged into a fascist lockdown and Americans are rounded up in camps.

The plan remains to use the supe-killing virus discovered in season 4 to take down Homelander, a strategy that could potentially instigate a genocide as the sickness spreads to everyone else with super powers. Butcher also appears to be going off the deep end even more than usual as his Venom-like tumor ratchets up his violent dissociative outbursts, and there are moments of strange horror—Cthulhu-like tentacles peek from his trench coat.

Amid the darkness, The Deep and Black Noir try podcasting, and Kimiko Miyashiro, played by Karen Fukuhara, finally gets to talk.
