Pixar’s Hoppers led the weekend with $46 million domestically and $88 million worldwide. The original, which follows animal lover Mabel after her mind is transferred into a robotic beaver so she can speak with other animals about habitat destruction, opened on a reported $150 million budget and has earned very positive reviews.

Warner Bros.’ new horror The Bride underperformed, taking in $7.3 million domestically and $13.6 million globally on a $90 million budget, below independent tracking predictions of $10–15 million. Jessie Buckley stars as a resurrected woman paired with Frankenstein’s monster in 1930s Chicago, and Maggie Gyllenhaal directed; critics praised the film’s boldness but disagreed on whether its ideas land.

The result ended Warner Bros.’ nine-movie box office winning streak. Scream 7 finished second with $17.3 million in its second weekend, a steep 74% drop but a global total of $149.4 million on a $45 million budget.
