ZDNET's updated 2026 guide to budget web hosting names Hosting.com (previously branded A2 Hosting) as its top pick for cheap web hosting, highlighting entry prices from $2 per month and features aimed at beginners and small businesses. ZDNET says Hosting.com's Starter package includes free migration, 15GB storage, 10 email accounts, unlimited bandwidth, LiteSpeed servers, 24/7 support, a free domain and SSL certificate, and support for up to 100 websites.

The guide notes a 30-day money-back guarantee and a $1 WordPress option, while warning that entry prices can rise substantially after the first contract term and that advanced features are limited. The guide also recommends other budget hosts. Hostinger is praised for very low introductory prices (from $2) with 20GB–100GB storage, free mailboxes, one-click WordPress installs, a drag-and-drop and AI website builder, and dedicated IPs on premium plans, though ZDNET notes some customers report bouncebacks and slow load times and cautions about its email setup.

Bluehost is recommended for e-commerce, with plans starting at $4 per month and an e-commerce tier at $15 per month on a three-year contract that includes shop themes, 100GB storage, WooCommerce support and tools for up to 200,000 visitors.
