Chuck Norris discovered in 1991 that he had fathered a daughter during an affair. Dina, born in 1964, was the child of that relationship and Norris did not know she existed for 26 years, until she reached out to him. He found a letter in his mail in which Dina wrote she was "your daughter from a past experience," and that she had known since she was 16 but her mother had asked them not to interfere with his family.

Norris had his mother meet Dina first; after that visit his mother called him to come over, and he later wrote that he was stunned when he saw her and instantly knew she was his without the need for DNA tests. They hugged and cried at their first meeting. The two quickly formed a close bond.

Norris said he was blessed to have her as his daughter and reflected that, while he does not condone premarital or extramarital sexual relationships, "there is no such thing as an ‘illegitimate child'" and that every baby is legitimate in God's eyes.
