Contribution first appears as a progress bar when you do good deeds, which can make it seem like karma or faction reputation. In practice, it functions as a regional currency you spend at a Contribution Shop to buy special items and gear. Each region has its own progress bar and shop.

The Hernand Contribution Shop is in Hernand Castle — just through the door down and to the right of the interior gate that leads to the main keep. Filling the meter completely grants one point, and your total is shown in the top-right corner of the map. You earn Contribution by completing notice-board requests (for example Turnali's Request or Rhett's Request), doing Chapter 2 bounties, giving money to beggars, finishing certain main quests, freeing Pailunese refugees from bandits, and liberating bandit hideouts and strongholds.

Committing crimes, especially stealing, will reduce your Contribution whether you are caught or not.
