How I Shop with Nussaibah Younis
Dr Nussaibah Younis is a peacebuilding practitioner and a recognised expert on contemporary Iraq. She advised the Iraqi government on programmes to deradicalise women affiliated with Islamic State and holds a PhD in international affairs after studying at Oxford, Durham and Harvard.
Born in the UK to an Iraqi father and a Pakistani mother, she lives in London; her debut novel, Fundamentally, was shortlisted for the Women’s prize for fiction in 2025 and is published in paperback on 12 February. She buys food from her local butcher and greengrocer and treats herself to designer pieces.
Her last purchase was the Rosalee maxidress from Alice + Olivia (£650). Online she favours Mytheresa and, in person, she often browses Selfridges. The most thoughtful gift she gave was a carefully assembled hamper for a university friend; the best she received was a vintage lambskin Chanel cross‑body.
