How much gig workers earned per hour in 2025, by app
Pay for gig work varied widely across apps in 2025, Gridwise found after analyzing about 1 billion tasks across ride-hailing, delivery, and other gig-work platforms. Taskrabbit workers had the highest estimated hourly pay at $38, followed by Walmart's Spark at $23 and Uber at $22; DoorDash was lowest at $11.
Gridwise compiled the estimates for its annual gig-mobility report, calculating hourly pay for 19 apps and including base pay, bonuses, and tips. Some companies disputed the figures: a Taskrabbit spokesperson said its gig workers earn $49 an hour on average, and Uber has said drivers earn $32 per hour while actively working on the app.
Ride-hailing fares rose faster than driver pay between December 2024 and December 2025, with average customer ride prices on Uber and Lyft up 9.6%, driver gross pay per trip up 3.6%, and gross pay per hour up 4.1%. Gridwise CEO Ryan Green said the data showed a modest increase for drivers alongside a much larger rise in prices.
