Netflix's second season of its live-action adaptation of One Piece keeps much of the manga's story but takes creative liberties that the anime, produced alongside Eiichiro Oda's work, could not. The format also forces choices about what to cut or change while trying to remain true to the story's themes.

The season inserts surprising teases: Sabo briefly appears in Loguetown, Brook is foreshadowed through scenes with Laboon, and Bartolomeo turns up earlier than in the anime. At the same time, some fights are omitted or altered—the Zoro–Luffy clash from Whiskey Peak is dropped, while Zoro still has his own standout encounter.

Several villain arcs and motivations are reshaped for cohesion. Wapol’s return is reframed with a flashback showing Miss All Sunday giving him a Devil Fruit on behalf of Baroque Works, and Chopper’s confrontation with Wapol is reduced, with the rumble ball only teased aboard the Going Merry rather than used in battle.
