How Their Time on Solo Helped Shape Project Hail Mary
Phil Lord and Chris Miller say their time on Solo: A Star Wars Story connected them to collaborators who helped shape their new film Project Hail Mary. "Well, we use a lot of similar crew people, a lot of costume department, Neil Scanlon, who helped design Rocky, a lot of the folks in our sound department, so there are really a lot of teammates that we worked with on that.
So, certainly brought a lot of experience to this." Miller added, "And then anytime you make a movie, you're learning, you're learning new things. And we learned a lot on that one, and we just keep learning about everything that we do." Solo was taken over by Ron Howard during production, and while critical reviews leaned positive the film remains the saga's lowest-earning live-action movie.
When Disney acquired Lucasfilm in 2012 the studio announced both sequels to the original trilogy and standalone projects. Rogue One and a proposed Boba Fett film from Josh Trank were among those early projects, and a Han Solo prequel was also announced.
