How to beat every Elder Dragon in Monster Hunter Stories 3

Calamitous Elder Dragons are the toughest bosses in Monster Hunter Stories 3. Each region houses one, and they appear after you defeat enough monsters at night; a short cutscene will play to let you know an Elder Dragon has spawned, and some can be added to your team after defeat.

Namielle (recommended level 75) cycles through three forms: start by using red Power attacks to beat its green Technical moves while it has Water Mantle, prepare for Abyssal Charge when it shifts to electric damage and blue Speed attacks, and then punish its Water Depleted state with blue Speed Head-to-Heads to whittle down Wyvernsoul.

Malzeno is the top Monstie pick, and players should bring armor and decorations that cut thunder and water damage plus Nulberry Elixirs to cure the stamina-stopping status. Yama Tsukami (recommended level 60) is easier but still dangerous; it slams tentacles that must be broken, and once the mouth opens you have seven turns to destroy it before the Yama Tsukami Pull AOE wipes the party.
