How to get paper in Pokémon Pokopia

Paper is needed for crafting and to complete the "Rebuild the Huge Building!" request in the Sparkling Skylands and the "Do the... Team Initiation Challenge?" request on the Withered Wasteland beach. The item is largely progression locked: you must reach the fourth area, the Sparkling Skylands, before you can make it.

Any Pokémon with the Recycle specialty can turn wastepaper into paper. You receive two paper per wastepaper, can hand over up to ten at a time, and the conversion takes some time. Trubbish (met in Bleak Beach) and Koffing (spawns at a trash collection site in Palette Town) are among the easiest options; Metang and Porygon also work.

Metang is summoned through a professor's apprentice program habitat (one whiteboard, one table [any], one jumbled cords, one laptop), while Porygon requires a researcher's desk (two tables [any], one powered computer, one science experiment). Wastepaper appears on the ground around the Sparkling Skylands, similar to rocks and logs.
