Lumber is an important material in Pokémon Pokopia. You can use it to craft storage boxes, which increase how much you can store without cluttering your inventory, and to make wooden siding to shape your Pokémon village. The process is straightforward but requires unlocking a Pokémon with the Chop specialty and gathering the right materials.

Give Scyther (or any Pokémon with Chop) small logs to make lumber. Scyther is the first Chop Pokémon you’ll get access to and only needs a few minutes to finish. It prepares the material for free, but it won’t send the lumber to you automatically—you must speak to Scyther to collect the finished pieces.

To get small logs, use the Cut ability learned by unlocking Scyther to break wooden beams you find on the ground or to cut down trees; breaking beams yields more small logs than cutting down trees. If you haven’t met Scyther yet, set up a "tree-shaded tall grass" habitat, which requires one large tree and four tall grass.
