The game lets you "observe this skill in action to learn it," effectively unlocking an ability without spending one of your Abyss Artifacts. Watching an enemy or boss perform a move teaches you the trick so you can use it yourself. During many fights the action will slow when an enemy uses a learnable attack.

A "Learning" bar appears in the top left with the skill name and a fraction such as 1/3, showing how many times you must see that move. Once you reach the required number, a pop-up explains how to perform the skill. Skills that can be learned this way are marked in the skill tree, so consider holding off on buying them unless they suit your playstyle.

You can also respec after finding an enemy that performs a skill to pick it up, but it’s often simpler to wait. In fights with multiple foes, kill the others and bait the target so you see the move enough times; boss encounters tend to give you more opportunities.
