How to solve the mysterious slate puzzle in Pokémon Pokopia

In Pokémon Pokopia you can find 27 mysterious slates that form part of a larger puzzle. Slotting them into the correct positions completes a mural on a wall and grants a substantial reward when finished. The slates live in a shrine in the Withered Wasteland. Break the sandstone walls northeast of the Pokémon Center with Rock Smash to access an expanded section of town, or climb the cliffs and follow a jagged path down into the ruins.

You can also reach the area via an underground maze, but the surface route is faster. Inside the ruins is a large display of Unown carved into the wall with indented slots for the slates. To find slates, dig at glowing golden spots on the ground using Rock Smash; those spots yield a variety of items (relics, fossils, CDs, even Drifloon dolls), so slates can be uncommon.
