How to steal in Crimson Desert
If the Steal option is greyed out in Crimson Desert, you aren’t missing a button—stealing requires a mask. Some rewards, such as the Hernand Castle and Bluemont Manor strongboxes you encounter after solving their puzzles, can only be taken by stealing, so this is necessary in certain situations.
You can obtain a mask in a few ways: buy one from the Back Alley Shop in Hernand for 10 coppers; complete the Bounty quest for Jeffrey by heading to the jail in Hernand and capturing the criminal (this appears on your map at the start of Chapter 2 in the north of Hernand city); or loot masks randomly from bandits you kill.
Buying is the easiest option because you can do it in Chapter 1 when you arrive in Hernand. Masks generally won’t drop from bandits until Chapter 2 and Jeffrey’s bounty isn’t available until then either. The Back Alley Shop sits east of Hernand—go past the big model castle on the left, turn left down the road and follow the track to the vendor; it’s also where you can sell stolen livestock.
