How to use Abyss Cores in Crimson Desert

Abyss Cores are mods for weapons and armor in Crimson Desert that must be installed to take effect. You will often pick up or receive Cores long before you can use them, which can clutter your limited inventory until they’re implanted.

You cannot embed Abyss Cores yourself: seek out Witches around Pywel to handle them. These merchants install and remove Cores, create sockets to hold more, and sell recipes for crafting new ones. Installing and extracting Cores is free, though making additional sockets carries a cost.

Some Abyss Cores are very powerful when fitted to the right equipment, and legendary or unique weapons can come with their own unique cores that you can leave in place or extract for other gear.

Witches become available as you progress the main campaign to Chapter 5. Midway through that chapter you meet the first Witch, Elowen, in The Witchwoods west of the Hernand Highlands, and that quest opens opportunities to find others, including one in the Serpent Marsh south of Demeniss.
