Howe: Newcastle ran out of gas as Man City came from behind
Manchester City came from behind to win 3-1 at St James' Park, overturning Harvey Barnes' early opener to reach the FA Cup quarter-finals. Savinho levelled before the interval and Omar Marmoush struck twice after the break to secure the result. Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said his side had a "good start" but could not sustain the intensity.
"Good start from us, really good for half an hour. Probably two things happened we couldn't sustain our start in terms of energy but they also played really well. We just have to accept that," he told TNT Sports. Howe pointed to the physical toll of facing Pep Guardiola's side and highlighted City's 63 percent possession.
"I felt we maybe ran out of gas, certainly in the second half but also towards the end of the first half. You have to say they were a very good side. We needed the ball to try and generate pressure but we couldn't get enough of it," he said. "The crowd were magnificent today.
