Huang says Nvidia 'pulled it all together' in the modern videogame industry
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang spoke at the Morgan Stanley Media and Telecom Conference, touching on AI and the company's recent successes and even joking about the lack of walk-on music. He argued Nvidia played a central role in the development of modern gaming, saying, "And so 3D graphics was modernized in my time, consumerized in my time" and "And the whole videogame industry was created in my time." Huang qualified that claim by adding, "And when I say in my time, meaning it was Nvidia that pulled it all together," and insisting, "The reason why we're so beloved in the videogame industry and we're so deep in it still is, in a lot of ways, we created the modern videogame industry." He pointed to the company’s algorithms, libraries and RTX work as foundational for today’s game engines.
There is no doubt Nvidia’s graphics technology is deeply embedded in modern hardware and engines, and that its influence stretches across tools such as Epic’s Unreal Engine.
