Hugh Jackman Holds a Lamb in First Look at The Sheep Detectives

A new image from the upcoming film The Sheep Detectives shows Hugh Jackman cradling a baby sheep. The movie, directed by Kyle Balda, is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on May 8, 2026. Adapted from Leonie Swann’s novel Three Bags Full, the story follows George (Jackman), a shepherd who reads mystery novels to his flock.

When George turns up dead, the sheep — who have been listening all along — take it upon themselves to solve the case. In the first look, Jackman wears a button-up jean shirt as he holds and feeds the lamb from a bottle, a quiet moment that highlights his character’s tenderness.

The Sheep Detectives features an ensemble cast including Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Emma Thompson, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Patrick Stewart, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Bella Ramsey, Rhys Darby and Brett Goldstein.
