Hyperliquid names Jake Chervinsky CEO of $28M DeFi Policy Center — Beincrypto

Hyperliquid has launched the Hyperliquid Policy Center, a lobbying and regulatory advisory group focused on decentralized finance in the United States, and named prominent crypto lawyer Jake Chervinsky its inaugural CEO. The center will focus on U.S. regulation of DeFi and the development of perpetual derivatives, a market currently more common offshore than in mainstream finance.

Chervinsky brings experience advocating for the crypto sector on Capitol Hill and in the private sector, including roles at the Blockchain Association, venture firm Variant, and law firm Baker McKenzie. He says current U.S. rules were built for an analog era and the center will work to help Congress and federal agencies understand DeFi technology and craft regulatory frameworks that integrate decentralized protocols into the broader financial system.

To fund the effort, the Hyperliquid Foundation committed 1 million native HYPE tokens, valued at roughly $28 million; the tokens are slated to be unstaked.
