Hytale’s key differences from Minecraft while it remains in early access
Pcgamer notes that Hytale, made by Hypixel Studios (founded by Minecraft modders), looks similar to Minecraft but currently differs in several important ways. The biggest practical difference is that Minecraft is a mature game of about 15 years, while Hytale has just entered very early access.
The current build is stable and functional, but far from feature-complete: there are fish but no fishing poles (there are traps), animals but no taming system, monsters but no boss fights, and a minigames tab with no minigames yet. Players will even encounter in-world signs pointing to planned future features.
Hytale is intended to be an RPG as well as a sandbox, but most RPG systems are not present yet—the adventure campaign and quests are not included, and the game remains a sandbox for now. Combat already differs from Minecraft with weapon movesets (charged lunges, hammer ground-pounds, dual-wield combos), a meter that builds toward an ultimate attack, and shield bashes.
