Hytale team backs modding with six-figure contest

Hypixel Studios is further encouraging player creativity with a modding contest that will award cash to 65 winners from a six-figure prize pool. The studio has already seen a flurry of community-made content, and the competition aims to build on that momentum.

On the day the contest was announced, Hypixel founder Simon Collins-Laflamme posted on X about why modding matters to the team. He said making the game mod-friendly takes time in the short term but keeps the studio connected to the people who care the most, a connection that pays off later.

There are already thousands of Hytale mods on CurseForge, and with the tools and contest in place it seems likely that vanilla Hytale will be transformed by players in many unexpected ways.
