I bought a house with my best friend
Sarai Saez Rogers moved in with her best friend after both women divorced, calling it the best living situation she's had. The two met in New Mexico while their husbands were stationed in the military, and with no family nearby they became each other's community and support system.
After periods of living with parents in different states, they stayed in touch and eventually discussed moving in together. In the summer of 2024 Claire visited and, on somewhat of a whim, they looked at houses. They fell for a late-18th-century yellow duplex with period features, a big front yard, two bedrooms upstairs and three downstairs, and a bathroom and kitchen on each floor — a former farmhouse that suited their plan.
They bought the house and now share daily life: parenting, household chores, and small pleasures like gin and tonics while watching Mulan.
