The LuminAid PackLite Nova inflatable solar camping light is available now for $25. It offers a long runtime and can be charged by its solar panel or via USB, making it well suited for emergencies. Weighing just five ounces, the lantern collapses to a 4.75 x 4.75 x 1 inch pack and inflates to 4.75 x 4.75 x 4.75 inches.

A valve at the bottom allows inflation and deflation, and the unit is rated water- and dustproof to IP67 standards, so it tolerates drops and rough handling. The small solar panel on top can fully recharge the light in about 10 hours, or it can be recharged by USB in roughly two hours.

On a full charge it runs around 18 to 24 hours on the lowest 12-lumen setting and three to five hours on the 75-lumen setting. A carry handle lets you hang it from a branch or guyline, though the lantern could blow away if not properly secured outdoors. I’ve taken this light on overnight hikes and longer treks, using it to illuminate campsites, vehicles, tents and hammocks.
