Eight years after Sorry To Bother You, Boots Riley returns with I Love Boosters, a surreal, Looney Tunes–style heist comedy that doubles as an anti-capitalist screed. Keke Palmer is electric as Corvette, the ambitious leader of a small shoplifting crew whose prime target is ruthless fashion designer Christine Smith, played to comically evil perfection by Demi Moore.

Corvette and her friends Sade (Naomie Ackie) and Mariah (Taylour Paige) form the Velvet Gang, boosting and reselling designer clothing from Metro Fashions to help their community. After Christine steals one of Corvette’s designs, the group plots the ultimate theft—getting jobs at Metro to boost an entire store—only to be challenged by a rival booster, Jianpu, who possesses a mysterious machine capable of mass theft.

With help from a rebellious retail worker (Eiza González) the women discover Jianpu is one of hundreds of underpaid laborers at Metro’s manufacturing plant in China, and their differing motives complicate the plan.
