I tried and ranked 13 fast-food double cheeseburgers
I tried and ranked double cheeseburgers from 13 fast-food chains to see which one reigns supreme. The restaurants included McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Shake Shack, White Castle, Whataburger, P. Terry's, Five Guys, Cook Out, Checkers, Sonic, 7th Street Burger, and In-N-Out.
Of the bunch, 7th Street Burger, the smallest chain, blew me away with its saucy smash burger, and In-N-Out's famous Double-Double stood out as great value and delicious. My least favorite was Burger King's double cheeseburger, which cost $4.09 and came with two beef patties, one slice of American cheese, pickles, mustard, and ketchup on a sesame-seed bun.
The thick patties tasted of beef and stayed juicy more than 15 minutes after pickup, and the pickles and bun added texture, but there was a little too much ketchup and the sandwich felt heavier than I preferred. Other burgers landed in the middle of the ranking for a variety of reasons.
