I visited Swig, the Utah-based soda shop, and sampled several menu items. The chain’s bestsellers struck me as too sweet, and the simpler drinks didn’t feel worth a special trip, though I can see the appeal for Gen Z, regular soda drinkers, and families with kids.

The Carmel, Indiana location sat in a brick strip mall with a drive-thru and felt surprisingly quiet compared with the busy McDonald’s next door. Inside was compact and bright but lacking seating; orders are mostly handled by tablet and the space is clearly set up for pickup rather than lingering.

Customization is Swig’s selling point: create-your-own bases begin at $1.65 and $1.85, add-ins run about $0.40–$0.70 each, and the menu lists 21 soda bases and 28 flavors plus purees and creams (blending costs an extra $1.50). My five drinks, a cookie, and pretzel bites totaled $25.54.
