Ibrahimovic: We must create a winning Milan
Zlatan Ibrahimovic, senior advisor for the RedBird fund, spoke to CBS Golazo about Gerry Cardinale’s next moves for Milan after the derby win over Inter reignited hopes in the Scudetto chase. He mixed jokes about the city’s two sides with memories from his early days in the Netherlands and his admiration for Marco van Basten.
On the Milan Futuro project, he said the club is changing the usual Italian focus on immediate results by giving young players real playing time. Rather than always selecting only ready players, Milan will move youngsters between Milan Futuro and the Primavera so they can develop at the right pace — a ladder they climb up and down until they earn a place in the first team.
Ibrahimovic insisted the club must deliver a winning Milan for the fans, reminding listeners of seven Champions League titles, 19 league titles, Ballon d’Or winners and the international cups the club has claimed.
