Ice T Ready to Stay on Law & Order: SVU

During a February 2026 interview on Sherri Shepherd's talk show, Ice T said he is "ready for the ride," adding that he wants to play Sgt. Odafin "Fin" Tutuola for as long as possible alongside his longtime friend Mariska Hargitay. "I think that show will go on for as long as Mariska wants to do it," he said.

He laughed about the Season 27 premiere, when his character was badly beaten and rushed to the hospital. "I mean, this year they beat my a-- in the first episode. So I was like, 'Are y'all getting ready to get rid of me? Am I done?'" he joked to audience laughter.

Though Fin is recovering and currently only in the squad room "part time," Ice T added, "I'm not complaining about it. I'm trying to get to Season 28, 29, and 30." Fin's recovery has been both physical and emotional. After completing physical therapy he returned to work but admitted to Benson, "I just think I need a little bit more time before I come back.
