There’s something magical about videogame concept art: it often looks more atmospheric, expressive and creative than the final product. This week I’ve put together a quiz that showcases 20 pieces of concept art; for each one you need to type the name of the game it was created for.

Part of the appeal is potential—art captures ideas before they must be refined into something playable. Matching images to games can be harder than it seems, so study each picture carefully; small details often prove telling.

If you score more than 5 out of 20, you’re doing pretty well; a perfect 20 might make you the quiz world champion. Even with a low score, you’ll still walk away enriched—art appreciation is its own reward.
