If You Miss Stranger Things, Try Apple TV's Home Before Dark

If you're hoping for a show as exciting and charming as Stranger Things, watch Home Before Dark. The Apple TV thriller premiered on April 3, 2020, and, while it wasn't as big as some of the service's more recent hits, it's one of its most interesting series and a great watch in the meantime.

Home Before Dark follows Hilde Lisko (Brooklynn Prince), a clever young writer who moves to Eerie Harbor, Washington, where her dad Matthew (Jim Sturgess) is from, and begins investigating a strange, unsolved case. The small-town setting, the sense of community among young characters and Hilde's intelligence will remind viewers of the beloved group on Stranger Things, but Hilde's story holds its own.

Two things set the show apart: it is a thriller that avoids supernatural or sci‑fi elements, and it is based on a true story.
